how can i connect my i-mate K-JAM with my BMW using the bluetooth? do i need to download anything into my i-mate 1st? because i tried to connect it iwth my BMW but neither the car nor the i-mate paired with each other?!

I have paired my iMate KJAM with my 2001 740iL that has the Bluetooth mod. Follow the bluetooth manual for pairing the KJAM. The manual is located at: http://www.e38.org/ULFOwnerManual.pdf
When paired you have two options: hands free and serial. Hands free is what you will use.
I am not sure what the serial connection can be used for. GPS? Anyone use the serial connection for anything?
