I am debating whether to buy a 1999 BMW 323i convertible that I found with 98k miles, asking price $12,500. I test drove it today and it feels fine, very sporty solid feel to it. The interior is a bit used, but understandably so, it doesn't have much scratches and what not. The cloth top however, needs some minor repairs and the rear plastic window will need replacing as it looks old and weathered. Most importantly....Those of you that know about this car....IS IT RELIABLE? IS IT A GOOD VS A BAD BUY FOR THE HIGH MILEAGE? HOW LONG CAN THIS CAR LIVE? thanks!

Just research this model for someone else, a 1998.
I looked on ebay. The highest price I've seen is $8,400.
with 90k miles.
That said, none of the auctions hit the reserve price.
I'll look again. Usually, I'll search the Dallas newspaper and find cars.
Umm... It's not that good of a deal, really. You're spending almost $13,000, and this car's life is half over, at the very least. (BMWs aren't exactly known for longevity)
I would keep looking, unless you really NEED a BMW for social status reasons, in which case I would give the Japanese brands (albeit less prestigious brands) a look- Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura all make extremely reliable cars with lower prices than BMW, especially in the used market since BMWs don't depreciate.
it sounds like an OK deal but if you are the kind that likes to fix it yourself like spark plugs it is not the car for you very hard to work on if you are not a BMW mechanic
