I am looking to buy a used BMW 7 Series. About '95 thru '99 model. I have heard that there are problems with these cars, I am willing to do some repairs. Would just like to know if there are certain year models that have greater or lesser problems? What to look out for?, recalls, etc. Feedback appreciated!
Are there particular years of BMW's that are more or less mechanically inclined to have problems than others.husqvarna
dont believe it , there has not been a bad year except for gm and chrystler

Contact NHTSA (national highway traffic safety association) to find out if there are any vehicle specific recalls. In general, a used BMW is a good bet. You should take the car to a place that can evaluate it for you. They should look for signs of transmission wear, the presence of abudant engine sludge, the condition of the wheels bearings and drive shafts, the condition of the steering rack and pump, and the presence of seal leakage anywhere. Also, evaluate the condition of the exhaust system, as this is a very pricey repair. If you like the car, and the price is right, go ahead and buy it knowing that you may have to do some "preventative" maintenance if the previous owner did not. Some of the most expensive components, like airbags, controller modules, and ABS components, are under continuous warranty alerts and may be replaced by the BMW dealer for free, as failure of these components appear throught the lifetime of the car. Good Luck!!
