How many miles with a BMW engine ?

I am looking at getting a second hand BMW. How many miles can we get from 2.8 ; 3.0 ; 3.5 or 4.0 engines ?

Are they that expensive to get serviced ?

If serviced correctly, BMW engines will outlast the car.

Service usually will average $500 - $1000 a year. Give or take a few.

Not really but you can easily get over 300,000 km
Most any modern engine should be good for 250,000 miles. That is assuming reasonable care is taken of it.

If you write the dealership a lot of checks there may be more miles than that in a given engine. Excellent servicing is more than just changing the oil now and then. It requires a host of small things be done on a regular basis. Those little things are what adds to the longevity of a car. Don't forget, a car is more than just an engine.
