I have changed the front lower control arms and the nearside front suspension strut. This has not rectified the problem. Any ideas please?? It has been looked at by a BMW specialist but he has not been able to find the cause yet.

I had a similar problem with a rover a couple of years ago and it turned out to be a worn engine mounting therefore when going over bumps there was considerable engine movement which gave the car judder.

its an elimination process, mountings, clutch, bushes,radius arms, ball joints, shockers, wheel balance, tyres,tracking,wheel condition,

give each item a thorough check as it can work out expensive when you change the wrong one,
Jack up a wheel on the car like you were going to change a tire. On your knees grab the tire side to side, then shake side to side. Look for any movement and if movement where on the chassis there is movement. Next get a bar about 2 or 3 ft of 1 meter long. Put the bar under the tire (tyre) about a tire (tyre) width past the tire. Then lift up on the bar again looking for movement and an associated movement in the suspension. Do this for all 4 tires. i drive a 98 bmw 525tdi....hav same problem....even worse the engine just died,cant find a new one..i reckon we need new cars.
