In 1999 BMW restyled the 3 Series with the 323 and 328. Two years later in 2001 they increased engine size/horsepower and renamed the models 325 and 330. Will BMW again rename the current 2007 328 model in 2009 with the 330 and increase HP from 230 to 272?
P.S. BMW is already offering a 330 coupe model in Europe with 272 horserpower.
Will the 2007 328i be replaced by the 330i for 3 series BMW in the future?ktm
There's been no specific announcement from BMW yet, but the prevailing belief has been that the 328i will be replaced by the 330i. You've already seen some movement on this front with the release of the 335i/335Ci twin-turbo. The convertibles will likely change first with the release of the 350Ci. This will leave the 325Ci, 330Ci, 335Ci and 350Ci all in that family, so depending on the sales performance of the turbo, the 335Ci may or may not stay around. The new M3 gets released as well next year and that is supposed to be a V-8, so they will tier the models to provide sufficient distance between that and the standard 3-Series.
If I had to guess, I would say:
1st-half 2007: 328i/330i/335i %26 325Ci/330Ci/335Ci
2nd-half 2007-2008: 330i/335i/350i %26 325Ci/335Ci/350Ci
Don't forget that they are finally releasing the 1-series in the US, so for those fuel-minded drivers, the smaller motors (inline 4 %26 6) will be available in those cars.
Good luck!
