Paint Job on a 1999 BMW 328 iS?

im about to get a red bmw 328is and need it a different color, preferrably black or a dark blue, wondering what to look for in a good company, good prices, and if theres any good ones near chicago. also ive heard after the paint job you can still see the old paint in spots from the maufacturer, is that just from crappy painters or a normal drawback of aftermarket paint jobs? so as much as id like a better color id prefer something that doesnt look cheap, thanks for the help.

My suggestion would be to join a car forum specific to bmws and ask for recommendations for paint shops. Because many BMW forums often have members who purchase aftermarket body parts, there is often a need to find body shops that can replicate the painting process done by BMW in Germany.

If you are looking to repaint your entire car an OEM color, it would be wise to join one of these forums and ask for shop suggestions. In addition, you should also contact your local BMW dealership and ask for BMW certified paint shops that may be able to quote you.

Normally when repainting a car, you should not be able to see the old paint. Old paint is usually sanded off in preparation for the new primer, then new coats of paint, and then the clearcoat.

The normal drawback of aftermarket paint jobs is a decrease in value of the car as original paint is crucial in a car's value.
