I am in need of a new vehicle and have been eye-balling this used 2001 BMW 320i 4DR. As I am aware of the German engineering, and know that they can become very expensive to fix and maintain.
Has anyone had and experience with major issues? Would you purchase one again? I have placed a link below for you to see what I'm referring to. Please send your comments and thoughts...

How Exspensive to Fix, 2001 BMW 320i, looking to purchase used...?norton ghost
Basically think of what it cost you to fix your old car and multiply it by 2. But the good news is, that if maintnance is kept up on it the repairs should be less frequent.

BMW's are great cars. They are designed for hundreds of thousands of miles to be virtually trouble free. Most problems occur from owners that don't bother to read or follow the instructions in the owner's manual. Using cheap fuel (with low detergent qualities) or cheap unrated oils cuase most problems. Fluids need to be changed as specified, even the brake fluid. Use only BMW labeled fluids from a BMW dealership. The only excep[tion is to use Mobil One 0W-30 when you change oil. Don't even think about using conventional oils, it mucks things up. BMW's are not expensive to fix and maintain if you have any mechanical abilities or automotive common sense. Keep the engine bay clean as showroom and don't drive it like it's a chevette or pinto.. These cars were meant to be driven briskly to exercise their automotive muscles. They weren't meant to be driven by the litlle ol' lady from Pasadena. Usually the only things that go wrong are small trim pieces, like window lift switches. Or the side view mirrors get discolored. They are like any other car, otherwise, and should be loved and respected for their fine manners and build quality.
