Clutch on a 2000 bmw 323i?

ok so the clutch on my 2000 manual 323i is going out... BMW parts are nortoriously expensive. Any idea what it should cost to replace the clutch at a regular auto repair shop (not at the dealership)

I got it taken care of at a transmission place for around $800. If your flywheel is too worn out to be resurfaced, that'd be another couple hundred dollars. BMW parts are even more expensive - I bet you're looking at least $1000 in repairs.

roughly between 6-700 dollars but if i was you i would get it from a dealership especially for a car like that cause you can get the waranty with it. i have a 1995 nissan maxima but total cost of money spen on it so far is 4,000 dollars to modify engine and body and now i always take it to the dealership eventhough its not a up to date car but net worth right now is 15,000 dollars it has even came out on import tunner magazine so for expensive carss the dealership is always numero uno!good luck
It will be about $300 -$400 dollars for clutch. Then the labor rate is $90 an hour for about 5hours.
Not sure what parts cost but call NAPA and they will tell you actual cost also a clutch is about 4-5 hours labor I would guess labor at 90 a hour maybe less.
Well you can get a clutch aftermarket at a local parts store now days. As far as labor goes figure about $500 to 800 at a respectable shop.

Lets face it, the car is old and old cars are much closer to needig repairs -- very expensive repairs in the case of a BMW. Personally, I think the car is too old. Better to buy a newer 5 series.

I would use CarFax to run a check on it - and if the results look OK, maybe $3000. Does it need tires? When were oxygen sensors last installed? Were the fluids changed? How about the brake pads? How about the brake rotors? It is a nice car with such low miles. The only major problem I can think of is the catalytic converter. At 43,000 miles the engine and trans should be OK for a long time.
Not a 7 series unless you are a good mechanic, plus the parts are hard to come by and expensive for the older ones. Never buy a euro car without service records.

i have a BMW316 its a 1993 model lovely its need tiny work done to it but the engine is sound which iw ill be getting cleaned this month. Is this model too old to show off with? Or is it coz its a BMW thats its still a really good car? Please al so tell me how i can lower the back its looks a bit one sided. Does this meani will have to get the car lowered or can i get away with extras for cheaper.

Oldies always has a value.If a person cleans and maintains an old car like new...that is really commendable that also shows in interest and love towards to dream machine.Every model has its own charm in BMW.YOU CAN VERY WELL SHOW OFF.
It is a subjective questions, some like new model, some prefer the old model's looks..... so it all depends on you. Its like buying clothing, some may say it suits you but some may say you look old wearing it ..... there is no end to it.
My BMW is in the 3 car garage in my dreams....

i have a 328i 96 , its great, i just changed it to manual and its much faster now.. i even beaten a nissan z ( automatic trans ) :P
If You're planning to show it off, get a nice respray and a set of 5 spoke azev rims.
as a techs point of veiw, the 318 was a huge failure, between the engine issues and everything else, they really dont show the true nature of bmw as they once were, where the cars were reliable at one point. the 316 and 318 were brought over as a started model to get people to buy other models.

Recently had to change out the battery and the clock blanked out.. how do I reset the clock on a 2000 model BMW 323i We do not have the book for the radio and the car manual says to look at it. Also will this reset the control setting for the clock. (the area where the MPG, temp and all that is that you can see when you press the button on the blinker shift handle).. There are 2 stalks protruding from your dashboard. The one to the right is the one which sets the clock.

Well you've created some accuracy questions here. the Nissan 300zx is very different then the 350z in terms of performance. An M3 existed during both Nissan eras so not clear on what you're asking...

Regardless though the M3 will SPANK the Nissan no matter which years. The M3 is only challenge by very few cars like Vette's, Viper's.
deffinately the m3, not a doubt. It has more class, it is faster, it handles better, it looks better, and it has a back seat.
BMW M3. personal preference. I find them to be made of better quality materials than japanese cars. I don't however like all of the electronic crap that the germans stick in their cars. BMW did get another best engine of the year award for like the sixth consecutive time though.

its a 2002 it has 50k miles on it, and i get 10/h. but i dont pay bills just for my collage and car. you think i can afford KEEPING it, with all the maintance and what not. its like 20k.
